Gary's Fun Page

Warning: Don't take anything on this page seriously, especially this warning!

Herbie Popnecker

My family have been fans of Herbie comics since the 1960s when they first appeared (although Herbie first appeared in the late 1950s). As a compulsive organizer of information, I admit to these guilty pleasures with Herbie comics:

  1. Thousands of examples of Herbie Popnecker's odd themes, powers, and gags.
  2. A catalog of all Herbie stories, which has been added to the Grand Comics Database.
  3. Wikipedia entry on Herbie Popnecker.
  4. Articles on theories about Herbie comics, perhaps someday to be published.

Journal of Irreproducible Results

My article, "An Eye for an Eye for an Arm and a Leg: Applied Dysfunctional Measurement", was originally published in the Journal of Irreproducible Results, Vol. 27, No. 4, pp. 29-30, 1981. It was reprinted in The Best of the Journal of Irreproducible Results, G. H. Scherr (ed.), 1983, available in many technical bookstores in the humor section. The article's abstract makes the point: An arm and a leg are not worth two eyes; they are worth less.

The Ant People

The Ant People is a true story about how ants invaded our hotel room and my composure. Written in 1984.

Kid's Story

The Big Bunny Helped: is story for soon-to-be older siblings, by Gary Perlman, February 29, 1996
